Pallet Mason Jar Herb Garden

It’s Hump Daaaayyy! I seriously can’t think hump day without this camel in mind. I know this is like years old at this point, but it never gets old in my book!

Anyways….about 3ish months ago, I got super inspired by the warm weather, an empty balcony and a need for some freshness in my life. I went to the trusty Pinterest to find some ideas to bring some life to my apartment and decided that a Pallet Mason Jar Herb Garden was the way to go.

I headed off to Lowe’s and found some of my favorite herbs, dirt and hose clamps. I had to get a few different sizes because my Mason Jars had different openings. Measure your jars and make sure you get clamps that hold things that are at least the diameter of the top opening.

Once I had everything I needed, I planted the seeds in the jars. I picked Mint(which I’ve already put to good use), Basil, Cilantro, Chives and Parsley.

From there, I drilled holes in the clamps. Be careful, they spin when you’re drilling! I learned this the hard way and ended up having to hold them steady with my free hand of in between my knees. Ronnie helped with this as well after a few. Gotta love having an extra set of hands. And to be honest, he helped a lot as he keeps a little more calm than I do during things like this. I’ll be the first to admit, I got a tad frustrated until I got the hang of it.

Once the holes are drilled, I (or we) also drilled holes in the pallet to mark where the jars would be placed. This also helps the screws go in easier. Then, I lined up the hose clamps and attached them to the pallet – again, be careful, they like to spin. Lastly, I fastened the hose clamps around the openings of the Mason Jars.

And there ya go! A Pallet Mason Jar Herb Garden! I also sprinkled some flowers throughout for a little pop of vibrant color. Now, I can sit on my couch or be walking through the apartment and see lively, fresh herbs and flowers. I love it!! Definitely brings some much-needed mother nature into my life on days where I don’t make it outside as much as I’d like. Everything is starting to really bloom so I’m very excited to start using the herbs in so many dishes…I have a feeling some pesto, salsa, and herb salmon are in my near future!
