Nothing says home, well like home! We flew up to Vermont on Friday for a quick weekend with my Mom, Dad and brother. It was a complete surprise to them and I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Saturday and Sunday were full of time around the table, walks and games – relaxation at it’s finest. A weekend in Vermont is just want I needed!
When we arrived on Friday night, we had a little time to kill before showing up at the house. My mom is having a trainer work with her pups so I didn’t want to interrupt the magic he was working. So Ronnie & I headed to a favorite pizza place in St. Johnsbury for a couple slices and some of Vermont’s finest beer. While at Ramunto’s, I couldn’t resist a flight sampler made up of Switchback (one of my favorites!), Conehead, and a couple of others whose names are escaping me. Perfect way to start a weekend at home.
Saturday was spent with some quality family time that I’ve missed so much. It was so good just to chat and catch up while playing Cards Against Humanity <- always a family favorite :) After that, we headed downtown for a Maple Festival to explore all of the sweet goodness in the form of cookies, muffins, candy – you name it, they had it in both maple & other flavors. One of the highlights for me were these delicious chocolate chip cookies!
We ended Saturday with a walk. I grew up on a quite and dead end road. I found myself soaking in every inch of it during our walk and completely embracing the peacefulness and tranquility. Another highlight of the walk? Finally a photo of Ronnie & I. It’s silly but we’ve been together for over a year and we have a total of like 3 photos together…we need to up our game to say the least. 😉 And have the beautiful Vermont backdrop never hurts.
I don’t know what it is about being home, but everything feels better. The food taste better, the air seems fresher and the coffee is fresh!
Sunday was very low key with some delicious home cooking and a fun trip to Chutters in Littleton, NH. It’s the world’s longest candy counter so you can imagine the amount of sugar in one spot. And if candy isn’t you’re thing, they have tons of fudge, chocolate treats, fun signs and trinkets. I always spend a little too much time in there whenever I’m home.
Before I knew it, Monday was here and we were back on our way to the great state of North Carolina. Another great weekend in the books and I’m still in denial that it’s back to the real world. And I’m already planning my next trip back to Vermont – it can’t come soon enough!
What adventures did you have this weekend?
